Internship – Data Scientist


Primary responsibilities

  • Develop R tools to improve the current data manipulation processes
  • Follow R best practices
  • Contribute research findings to written reports
  • Research using established methods and techniques within the framework of the research programme as directed
  • Communicate regularly with your line manager and team regarding your progress
  • Liaise with research colleagues and staff internally as appropriate to the research project


  • Expert knowledge of programming languages such as R, Python
  • Use of Microsoft office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Understanding, and ability to use, a range of research methods
  • Data cleaning, management and manipulation skills

Desirable skills/experience

  • Knowledge and use of infographic software
  • Knowledge of public health areas
  • Understanding of statistical methods


  • BA/BSc in computer/data science or a related field
  • MSc/PhD in data science (desirable)

Personal qualities

  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative
  • Well organised
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills
